Position: Music Director

Job description:
The Clear Creek Missionary Baptist Church seeks an experienced Music Director. The Music Director is responsible for the organization, development, implementation, and leadership of the Music (Instrumental) Department. The Music Director should be a skilled organist/pianist with the disposition and ability to minister effectively through music. The Music Director will report directly to the Senior Pastor and carry out the vision and mission of the church.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organist/Pianist Responsibilities
Provide skillful and effective musicianship for weekly worship services and other church functions, including revivals, funerals, travel assignments and special events.
Display a professional musical ability and seasoned experience as a musician.
Must facilitate worship by efficiently using musical ability through the Holy Spirit.
Arrange for a qualified substitute organist/pianist with advance notice when absent.
Music Department Responsibilities
Assist in coordinating and planning music for weekly worship services using available resources.
Consult with staff, program leaders, and external resources to meet worship service needs.
Must work with the Senior Pastor to coordinate, execute, and evaluate weekly services.
Assist in responsibility for leading, teaching, and building the choir/band. (Teaching vocal parts is preferred but not mandatory)
Assist in musical planning and direction of annual special events and holiday services (Easter, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc.) in conjunction with the Senior Pastor.
Arrange for qualified substitutions of absent musicians with advance notice.
Lead the recruitment and training of musicians under your charge. Responsible for coordinating/conducting special training events to evolve the music ministry.
Stay informed of new trends and music relevant to creating a successful ministry.
Advise the administration on materials, equipment, supplies, and approaches relevant to a thriving music ministry.
Assist with the financial expenditure for the music department and work with the finance department in preparing the annual music ministry budget.

Qualities we are looking for:
 
 A technical proficiency in playing the organ and piano accurately.
 Ability to play various music, including hymns, with proficiency and sensitivity.
 Flexibility in schedule as needed.
 Exhibit a passion for music ministry.
 Flexibility and openness toward changing styles of worship.
 Knowledge of equipment.
Proven track record of being a team-oriented professional, willing to work closely with others to achieve goals.
